Background
Save the Children Japan, Mongolia Office (SCJM) is an international development organization that aims to create long-term sustainable changes in the lives of children while seeking substantial and systematic solutions to emerging challenges. SCJM started implementing Protecting Girls from Violence and Exploitation Project funded by United Nations Trust Fund (UNTF) with the duration of 3 years from 2021 to 2024.
The project aims to protect girls 12-18 years in five districts of Ulaanbaatar, Songinokhairkhan, Sukhbaatar, Chingeltei, Bayanzurkh, and Bayangol, through district health, protection and education services from increased risks of violence and exploitation due to factors exacerbated by the effects of COVID-19. It also aims to strengthen inter-sectoral linkages in the prevention of gender-based violence, including the involvement of educational institutions, support for children’s participation, and improve the collection of information on gender-based violence.
We are current seeking a Research Consultant to support the above-mentioned project. It presents an important opportunity for the candidates to contribute to the prevention and response to the sexual exploitation and abuse of young girls at the target communities.
Consultant Responsibilities
The research consultant will work full time for 16 months, and s/he will collaborate with the project team to facilitating the organization of 11 module capacity building training for professionals who provide services to girls who are victims of sexual violence and exploitation, organize supervision for multidisciplinary teams, and assist on conducting Psychological First Aid Programs at target schools.
The other tasks that Consultant is expected to accomplish, but not limited to, include:
– Responsible for training preparation and organization according to the approved plan and schedule of the project
– Provide guidance and methodology to project contracted trainers
– Review and improve curriculum content
– Responsible for pre- and post-training assessment performance and feedback processing
– Prepare training process and performance reports
– Support 15 targeted school-based training and advocacy activities
– Implementation of Psychological First Aid and I Support My Friend program in 15 target schools
– To support the development of manuals for the organization of workplace supervision of the joint team of 25 target committees
– Organizing workplace supervision of the joint team of 25 target committees
– Monitor progress, report and collect data on joint team workplace supervision
– Use statistical software to analyse data and interpret results.
Qualifications for the Consultant:
– Master’s degree or higher in social work or psychology
– Must have worked in the field of child protection for at least five years
– Must have at least five years of experience in organizing training and leading a training team
– It would be an advantage if you have been involved in developing or implementing procedures and guidelines for responding to victims of child abuse
– Have experience in developing manuals in the field of child protection and case management
– Experience providing direct services to child victims/survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation is an advantage.
– Have high writing skills in English and Mongolian,
– Experience working in an international and cross-cultural team, and experience working with an organization is an advantage.
