A new fully equipped Dental Clinic opened in Tudevtei Hospital
-It will provide dental services and treatment for citizens of the nine nearby soums –
Save the Children Mongolia has implemented health projects in Tariat and Erdenemandal soums, Arkhangai province, since 2012, and in Chandmani soum, Gobi-Altai province, since 2022. Funded by the US-based Denan NGO, the projects provide dental units in the target health centers of the soums, providing support for acquiring necessary equipment, tools, and medications, as well as conducting training and capacity building activities for local doctors and staff. Additionally, health clubs are being created among secondary school’s students, and activities aimed at promoting health education are being organized.
With funding from the Denan Project, Save the Children begun a health project in Tudevtei soum of Zavkhan province in Western Mongolia, donating a fully equipped dental unit, which officially opened on April 4, 2025.
The ceremony was attended by L.Bayan-Altai, Country Manager of Save the Children in Mongolia, B.Nomin, health project officer, SC Mongolia field staff from Zavkhan province P. Dulguun and B.Myagmarsuren, D.Uujimsanaa, Deputy Governor of Zavkhan Province, T.Renchinvanjil, Head of the Governor’s Office and M. Urjinkhand, Director of the Health Department, among others. In his opening speech, L. Bayan-Altai mentioned, “We aim to ensure children have healthy teeth from an early age. I am very that we are providing you with fully equipped dental unit which serve thousands of adults and children living in this remote region. I hope that when we come back next year, many children will have had their teeth treated.” D.Uujimsanaa, Deputy Governor of Zavkhan, also noted, “This is a significant investment for the children and youth of Zavkhan aimag. We thank the donor organization for choosing Tudevtei soum for this important project. Tudevtei is located among nine other soums and has plans to develop as a cluster hub in the future.”
The establishment of the dental clinic at the Health Center of Tudevtei soum will provide dental health services not only to the residents of this soum but also to over 16,000 citizens from the other nearby soums such as Asgat, Songino, Bayantes, Tes, Numrug, Bayankhairkhan, Santmargats, and Tsetsen-Uul sums, including approximately 6,600 children aged 0-18.
N.Ulziijargal, the head doctor of the health center in Tudevtei soum, said, “With the new dental unit, we plan to work not only at the health center but also provide mobile services in the surrounding soums using the portable dental chair”.
Through the “Denan Project”, health clubs will be established among students of the secondary school in Tudevtei of Zavkhan Prvince to provide health education and conduct activities aimed at promoting public health.
