“My Forest Child” project site equipped with electricity and deep well

Construction work at “My Forest Child” project site in the 5th khoroo of Nalaikh District, Ulaanbaatar is progressing rapidly. The site is now powered by an environmentally friendly renewable energy system, which has been successfully installed. In addition, a deep well has been built to fully secure water for tree irrigation, ensuring long term, sustainable management of the site. With these improvements, a reliable system for planting and nurturing trees has been established, laying the foundation for the project’s steady continuation.

The project aims to plant over 5,000 trees across five hectares. Last spring, around 1,700 trees were planted, with a survival rate of more than 80 percent. We have also grown about 600 seedlings of seven tree varieties in our greenhouse and planted more than 30 conifer trees in the field, further expanding the project’s impact.  Project staff D. Dorjhand said, We are building a forest together with the local community. In the future, it will be a place where people can relax, and children can learn. Thinking that the trees we plant today will grow tall and give shade for my grandchildren makes me very happy”.

Alongside construction work at the site, the project team is also organizing training to strengthen ecological knowledge and community engagement among the local residents. This autumn, more than 3,000 additional trees are planned to be planted with the participation of schoolchildren and local citizens.

The project not only contributes to expanding green spaces in the district but also plays an important role in promoting ecological education and active participation among children and young people.
