Handover ceremony of equipment, educational materials, and renovation work to support children with special needs at targeted kindergarten

As part of the project “Promoting Sustainable, Holistic and Inclusive Developmental Support in Early Childhood”, Save the Children Mongolia completed small renovation work at Kindergarten No. 320 in Bayanzurkh District, Ulaanbaatar. The renovation, finalized in August 2025, included the installation of specialized sinks, toilets, support accessories in four classrooms’ restrooms, handrails along staircases, and a ramp at the main entrance. These modifications were designed to support children with diverse abilities to installation can navigate the kindergarten safely and independently. The project established a “Child Friendly Space” at the kindergarten. This specially designed area was equipped with educational materials, furniture, equipment, books, and toys selected to develop children’s speech and cognitive skills.

The official handover ceremony took place on October 21, 2025, at Kindergarten No. 320 in the Bayanzurkh district.

The event was attended by representatives from the Embassy of Japan, the project team from Save the Children Mongolia, officials from the Bayanzurkh District Education Department, the Governor of the 23rd Khoroo, and staff from the kindergarten administration. Mrs. Tsogzolmaa, Head of Kindergarten No. 320, opened the ceremony with heartfelt remarks, “Through this project, we are receiving comprehensive support, including training for teachers, assistant teachers and parents, methodological guidance, and valuable educational materials and equipment to ensure inclusive education for children with diverse needs. Our team is committed to working for the well-being of every child.” Mr. Umeda Takashi, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan, also attended the event and expressed his gratitude for the partnership and positive impact the project is having on children’s development.

This year, the project has expanded to include 5 more kindergartens and Family Health Centers in three Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei and Songinokhairkhan districts in Ulaanbaatar and Bayankhongor and Selenge provinces. Across all locations, renovation work has improved the infrastructure to support accessibility. “Child Friendly Space” in KG and health screening rooms in FHC have been established and fully equipped to support the learning and health needs of children with diverse abilities.
