Child Protection: Problems and Solutions Forum Concludes in Khovd
Save the Children in Mongolia organized the Child Protection: Problems and Solutions Forum on 5-6 November 2025, in Jargalant soum of Khovd province. The forum aimed to strengthen the child protection system, promote interdisciplinary discussions on improving child protection services, identify pressing challenges, and build the capacity of specialists providing child protection and education services in Khovd province.
The forum was jointly organized by the Governor Office and the Authority of Child and Family Development Protection of Khovd province. More than 100 participants, including representatives of the aimag and 17 soums, as well as professionals from the education, health, social welfare, and police sectors, along with parents and children.

In his speech, M.Bayart, Deputy Governor of Khovd province “Save the Children in Mongolia has successfully implemented projects in Khovd province. The ’Establishing School-Based Child Protection Mechanism in Mongolia‘ project has made a significant contribution to strengthening the local child protection system, enhancing interdisciplinary cooperation to improve child protection mechanisms in schools, and empowering specialists who provide child protection and education services.”
L.Bayan-Altai, Country Manager of Save the Children in Mongolia, noted: “In addition to province and soum leaders and representatives, children also participating in the forum. We listened to the children, identified future issues related to child protection, and made informed decisions”.
During the forum, several presentations were delivered: R.Galya, a member of the Children’s Council and Head of Knowledge, presented on “Problems and Challenges Facing Children”, S.Khishigtogtokh, a specialist from the Authority of Child and Family Development Protection of Khovd province, spoke on “Challenges in Providing Services as Multi-Disciplinary Teams”, B.Batsaikhan, a head of the Policy Implementation Division of the Education Department, delivered a presentation on “Problems in Providing Child Protection Services in the Educational Environment,” and G.Sainbileg, a specialist from the Development Center for People with Disabilities of Khovd province, presented “Problems and Solutions Facing Children with Special Needs”.
Project-implementing schools Jargalant soum No.1 and Darvi soum of Khovd province shared the project results, good practices, and insights on “The Role of Parents and Guardians in Child Protection Activities,” and responded to participants’ questions.

Save the Children in Mongolia presented the results of the Establishing School-Based Child Protection Mechanism in Mongolia project, along with updates on other educational and humanitarian projects implemented in the province. Discussions focused on strengthening the child protection system in Khovd province, improving child protection mechanisms in schools, and increasing the capacity of professionals. To ensure children’s participation, children delivered presentations and shared their perspectives.
During the forum, recommendations were made to provincial leadership on preventing and responding to child violence in the family environment, preventing and protecting children from peer bullying and cybercrime, and improving interdisciplinary cooperation.
Additional recommendations were submitted regarding the regular and phased capacity building of staff in protection and education institutions. Overall, the forum served as an important step toward further strengthening cooperation to protect child rights, create safe environments, and ensure equal access to quality education and health services.
