Save the Children is participating in the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification-COP 17
The Seventeenth Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is being organized in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia between 17-28 August 2026. There are 197 parties to the Convention, bringing together policymakers, academia, the private sector, civil society organizations and communities around a shared vision to restore land and reduce degradation. COP17 conference in Ulaanbaatar is expected to be an important platform to initiate discussion for realistic, long-term cooperation between the Parties.
Save the Children Mongolia has showcased our activities during its official opening on 18 August 2026, at Green Zone, B3 booth. Green Zone is open to the public and aims to raise awareness – linking desertification, land degradation, drought issues directly to the quality of life for everyone in future.

Save the Children is participating actively in COP17, introducing our project results, insights and opportunities at B3 booth, Green Zone on 19, 20, 24 August 2026. Our visitors are also welcome to participate in various activities organized by our youth partners.
Mr.Bayan-Altai Luvsandorj, Country Manager of Save the Children Japan in Mongolia has mentioned that “Save the Children, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, will organize “Investing in Children and Youth for Land Restoration and a Greener Future” side event on 24 August 2026 at Blue Zone. Moreover, Save the Children, World Vision International, People in Need INGO, Billion Trees Movement, the National Environmental Youth Council and will jointly organize Blue Zone side event “Children and Youth-led Transformative Actions for Restoring Land” on 26 August 2026.”

Mr. Mitsuaki Toyoda, New Business Development and Institutional Partnerships Manager and Country Director of Save the Children Japan in Mongolia; Ms. Myounghwa Hwang, Global Program Director, Yoon Shin Humanitarian & Climate Action Center Manager, Ms Yoori Han, Program Manager from Save the Children Korea; Mr Abinash Lahkar, Climate Change Adviser for Save the Children Korea and Japan will visit and participate in COP17.
