Position title: IT Officer

Position term and type: Full-time; with 3 months probation period

We are currently looking for a dynamic IT/Data Management Officer, who will be responsible for the proper maintenance of computers, printers, networking, Internet & Email operations, security, data backup and recovery at the organization.

About the Role

Under the general guidance of the Country Manager, and the direct supervision of the Administration Manager, the IT and Data Management Officer is responsible for the daily oversight and maintenance of computer systems and networks as well as data management practices of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for all IT-related matters at the organization;
  • Update staff with changes on current IT systems and software applications, and provide them with technical support and training;
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks. Set up accounts and workstations and troubleshoot system and network problems, issues, and outages; diagnose and solve hardware and software faults
  • Ensure security through antivirus, access controls, backups, and firewalls
  • Initiate, monitor, and supervise the upgrading of systems with new releases and models
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
  • Evaluate the needs of IT equipment and provide advice and suggestions on their procurement
  • Develop service agreements with IT firms, website companies, etc., as needed
  • Provide support to the field offices where necessary;
  •  Ensure digital information, data/databases, and archives are organized and maintained consistently, logically, and protected from security breaches and concerns, and data losses.
  • Follow the IT handout and Data protection guidelines of SCI;

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) is a plus
  • Five years of working experience as an IT officer and/or System Administrator or similar role
  • Applied experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Knowledge of current trends and developments in information technology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues
  • Fluency in spoken and written Mongolian and English
  • Commitment to SCI values
