Save the Children (SC) is a leading international, rights-based organization for children. Founded in London in 1919, SC currently operates in 120 countries around the globe. Having started its operations in Mongolia in 1994, SC Mongolia employs approximately 60 staff members and works in seven provinces, implementing programs in Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Child Poverty, Education and Health sectors. We are currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Advocacy Communication Officer. It is a full-time post with a lot of opportunities to grow and develop. JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Advocacy and Communications Manager, the post holder will work to meet the communication needs of all SCiM programs. The key duties and responsibilities include assisting in planning, implementing and monitoring the communications, campaigns and media related interventions across the programs and projects:

  • Post created or curated content across social media channels to ensure an interactive, two-way social media conversation between Save the Children and its audiences, while ensuring that responses and posting are accurate and reflect Save the Children’s policies on child safeguarding, information sharing and branding guidelines and standards.
  • Prepares and revises media packages, press releases, blogs, news articles, case studies and media briefs.
  • Writes stories, blogs, news to mainstream media.
  • Takes photographs of events and trainings and maintains comprehensive database.
  • Maintains media and communications data bases
  • Contributes to development and production of advocacy and communication materials (eNewsletters, collaterals, films, videos, audio-visuals, print, etc.) ensuring the alignment with SC’s brand guidelines
  • Produces and shares case stories across the programs
  • Updates and maintains organizational website, upload content, including blogs, news articles, case studies videos and photos
  • Uses analytic tools for web-based platforms and increases social and web traffic
  • Assists in event management e.g., trainings, public events, media events, meetings
  • Contributes to developing relevant training sessions and conduct trainings accordingly
  • Ongoing monitoring and monthly reporting of digital content and social media analytics
  • Any other duties assigned by the management

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or in related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of journalism, communications, international relations, public relations, digital communications and social media, or related area.
  • Proven understanding of media handling, pitching stories and media management, photography and videography skills
  • Ability to work on Canva, video editing programs, photoshop; knowledge of InDesign program
  • Experience with website content management system and social media management (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube, Instagram)
  • Shows willingness to work with SC by agreeing strongly with the mission and vision of the organization
  • Possesses a strong learning mind set to proactively gain and share new knowledge/skill/experience to constantly improve him/herself and provide positive impression to others for constant learning
  • Able to travel to Aimags/soums
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal communication skills with multiple stakeholders and all beneficiaries, especially with children.
  • Is fluent in spoken and written Mongolian and English.
  • Is proficient in computer operations (especially, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Is an excellent team player and is comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Is willing and able to undertake the field trips even during weekend and holidays.
