Hiring temporary communications officer
Position term and type: 2 months full-time; immediate start
Background:
Save the Children (SC) is a leading independent, rights-based organization for children. It was founded in London in 1919. Having started its operations in Mongolia in 1994, SC currently employs more than 60 staff members and works in seven provinces of Mongolia, implementing projects in Child Protection, Child Rights Governance, Child Poverty, Humanitarian, Education, and Health sectors.
We are currently looking for a dynamic communications officer, who will be assisting us in the development and dissemination of communications and media content for our ongoing Dzud Response Project.
About the Role
Under the general guidance of the Country Manager, and the direct supervision of the Advocacy and Communications Manager, the Communications officer is responsible for gathering contents and visuals from the field, writing case stories and preparing contents for the Dzud Project, focusing on five affected provinces. The job presents an excellent opportunity to work for an emergency response project, travel to affected areas and talk to the local communities. You will gain first-hand experience in Dzud response project.
Responsibilities:
- Attend content gathering training and ContentHub training organized by Save the Children International
- Prepare content plan and research relevant stakeholders and individuals
- Take a trip to the affected Provinces as part of Dzud response team of Save the Children in Mongolia and gather data and contents as per approved plan;
- Produce stories, clean photos and brolls, prepare necessary contents to upload to the ContentHub as per approved plan
- Translate press releases, interviews, video subtitles and other media products
- Monitor local, national and international media on Dzud
- Provide other professional support to the team where necessary, including but not limited to attending international calls
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in media, communications, journalism, public relations, international relations or a related discipline
- Three years of working experience in similar role
- Applied experience with photography would be preferred
- Native Mongolian and good knowledge of English
- Familiarity with humanitarian response is a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues
