Signing ceremony held for the “Promoting holistic and inclusive developmental support in early childhood in Mongolia” project

Save the Children in Mongolia will implement “Promoting holistic and inclusive developmental support in early childhood in Mongolia” project funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan from 1st of April, 2024.

The agreement signing ceremony for this project was held on March 25, 2024 at the Embassy of Japan. H.E. Igawahara Masaru, Ambassador of Japan to Mongolia, and Mitsuaki Toyoda, Asia Regional Manager of Save the Children Japan, signed the agreement.

In his speech, Ambassador Igawahara Masaru said, “This project is aimed at improving the accessibility of family health centers and kindergartens, as well as human resource capacity to provide early identification of disabilities and developmental support for preschool children with special needs.

“It is important to take appropriate measures at the right time in order to create an inclusive society, therefore we are giving importance to provide this support for preschool children,” he said. Mitsuaki Toyoda, Asia Regional Manager of Save the Children Japan said, “Save the Children will use the accomplishment and expertise gained in the field of education, social work, and health in Mongolia to promote the development of children with disabilities. Our goal is to create a reliable and efficient local system to provide support for children from an early age” he said.

The signing ceremony was attended by the staff of the Embassy of Japan, Save the Children Japan, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Science, and Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

The goal of this project is to identify developmental problems in young children as early as possible, offer them holistic support and needs-based intervention. Target places are Chingeltei, Bayanzurh, Songinohairkhan districts of Ulaanbaatar city as well as Bayankhongor and Selenge provinces of Mongolia.
