Vacancy for Communications and Advocacy Manager
Save the Children (SC) is the leading independent organization for children in need. Working in 120 countries, we fight for children’s rights and help them fulfill their potential. Having started its operations in Mongolia in 1994, SC employs now 50 staff members and works in eight provinces, implementing projects in Child Protection, Child Poverty, Education, Climate Change and Health areas.
We are currently looking for a dynamic Communications and Advocacy Manager (CAM), who will be responsible for providing leadership in the planning and delivery of advocacy, campaigning, media and communications activities for the country programs. The CAM ensures effective documentation of impact and good practice of our work by developing high quality visual and written materials for a wide range of audiences.
This is a senior management role, aimed at coordinating a diverse communications portfolio, contributing to strategy development of the organization, planning various events, donor and media visits, attending to humanitarian responses, and liaising with other organizations and partners. Reporting to the Country Manager, s/he will oversee all media and external communications activities and leads in developing effective social media strategies to engage the wider public.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the communications and advocacy strategy that aligns directly with the Country Strategic Plan and the SCI global advocacy agenda.
- Produce content to meet SC objectives and develop communications outputs for the humanitarian response, coordinating closely with senior management.
- Develop and present stories, photos, video, newsletters, and multimedia products for Save the Children Mongolia’s key audiences including donors and beneficiaries.
- Be responsible for the regular update of SC website and its presence on social media tools.
- Provide relevant training to senior staff on communications and media and support the Country Manager and other senior managers in their roles as designated spokespersons.
- Lead the development and dissemination of relevant real-time humanitarian and development reports and materials.
- Directly manage the Communications and Media Officer and define expectations and provide leadership and technical support as needed.
- Ensure the SC brand is recognized, respected, accepted, and protected at all levels.
- Based on program priorities, and priority issues for children, develop advocacy messages and identify targets from assessments, research and evidence gained by project implementation.
- Ensure that voices of children are integral to SC’s advocacy, campaigning and media.
- Ensure a robust overview, ongoing analysis, and development of key messages around protecting children and issues affecting SC’s ability to deliver quality programs for children.
- Work proactively with SC partners on joint advocacy, media and communications objectives and support partners and wider civil society in Mongolia.
- Comply with SC policies and practice with respect to child safeguarding, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
- Represent Save the Children to donors and other key stakeholders, as needed.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Country Manager.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Mass/Media Communication, International Relations, or Journalism.
- At least five years of experience working in communications roles involving child rights, education, human rights, and/or development issues, preferably at managerial level.
- Experience of and strong skills in developing and implementing advocacy strategies.
- Highly developed communication skills both written and verbal in order to establish effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external audiences
- Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner with excellent writing skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written Mongolian and English.
- Extensive knowledge of child rights and relevant laws
- High level analytical and strategic thinking skills and good attention to details
- Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organize a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing communications and campaign strategies.
- Strong understanding of approaches for communicating information to a wide range of audiences, including media relations.
- Proficiency in graphic design and photography skills (additional skills in videography are added advantage).
- Applied experience with photography, Canva, FB & IG reel making, etc.
- Previous work experience with children is an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel within the country.
