D.Sunjid, Chief Commissioner of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of Mongolia

It has been 32 years since Mongolia declared in its Constitution the commitment to uphold and strengthen its independence and sovereignty, promote human rights, freedom, and justice, foster national unity, respect the achievements of human civilization, and pursue the noble goal of building a humane, civil, and democratic society.

This goal has been warmly embraced by the global community, which values human rights, freedoms, the rule of law, free media, and equal access to opportunities as universal principles. These values must be protected and promoted across all spheres of life, and the international community has continued to offer development and humanitarian support to Mongolia in pursuit of this goal.

Promoting the concept of human rights and strengthening a culture of human rights is our contribution to the future—an essential and ongoing task

We deeply appreciate Save the Children’s contribution to the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Over the years, Save the Children has worked tirelessly to empower children to understand and assert their rights, know where to turn when their rights are violated, and become active participants in society. The organization has trained those responsible for upholding children’s rights, spread awareness of these rights, provided evidence-based methodologies for long-term use, and collaborated with national human rights organizations to exchange valuable information.

We would like to express our gratitude for creating new opportunities in Mongolia for children and NGOs to submit their views to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, and for empowering both children and civil society.

This professional organization has introduced a methodology for preventing violence against children, early detection of at-risk children, and providing comprehensive response services to those affected by violence – ensuring that these services are delivered promptly, without causing additional psychological trauma, and in a quality, accessible manner. We are deeply grateful to this organization for introducing a model for child protection activities in general education schools.

I am confident that the research conducted by Save the Children, along with the manuals developed, training materials, and advocacy activities, have significantly strengthened the child protection system in Mongolia. I also believe that the mutual learning and collaborative experiences of all involved parties have provided valuable insights for those currently working in the field of child protection, as well as for future professionals in this important area.

Our team is proud to support you in fulfilling your obligations under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Mongolian Law on Child Protection, the Children’s Rights Law, and other legal frameworks, in protecting children and girls from all forms of violence, providing support to those who have experienced violence in a way that prevents further psychological or physical harm, and ensuring their continued right to protection

May our words be clear, our actions be effective, and our pens be sharp in protecting and promoting the values of democratic governance, which are the only true guarantee of respecting, safeguarding, and ensuring human rights and freedoms.
