“Safe Families” Program: Facilitator Training for Regional Teachers Held in UB city
-The “Safe Families” Program, which promotes positive parenting practices, is set to be implemented nationwide in Mongolia-
Save the Children in Mongolia is conducting a series of training sessions to prepare facilitators for the nationwide implementation of the “Safe Families” Program. The training aims to equip educators and other professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to support parents, caregivers, and guardians in preventing violence against children and raising children through positive parenting approaches.
The training is being organized in collaboration with the General Authority for Child and Family Development and Protection, the General Authority for Education, and the Capital City Department of Education.
The first training session was held on 13–14 October 2026 at the conference room of the General Authority for Child and Family Development and Protection. More than 30 participants representing all nine districts of Ulaanbaatar and Tuv Province attended the training.

The training was opened by L.Bayan-Altai, Country Manager and Representative of Save the Children in Japan. In his opening remarks, he highlighted the importance of providing parents with practical knowledge and skills to support their children’s development and strengthen parent-child relationships.
“Today, we have a program based on international best practices that provides parents with the knowledge and understanding they need to guide their children appropriately and communicate with them effectively. We are working to make this program available to all parents across the country. You have an important responsibility to share and disseminate what you have learned here,” he said.
B.Amartuvshin, Head of the Capital City Department of Education, also emphasized the program’s potential to contribute to children’s well-being and educational outcomes.
“This year, 540,000 children are enrolled in schools in the capital, and there are more than one million parents. If these parents learn and develop their skills to become good parents, it will benefit education and the well-being of children. The Capital City Department of Education will give the program its full attention and make every effort to support its dissemination,” he said.

In addition to Ulaanbaatar, facilitator training sessions for the “Safe Families” Program were held in Sukhbaatar, Khovd, Darkhan-Uul, and Uvurkhangai provinces as part of the nationwide rollout.
The training covered key topics, including “Family Aspirations and Self-Care for Caregivers,” “Children’s Rights and Safety,” “Positive Parenting Practices and Attitudes,” and “Communicating with Children with Warmth and Empathy, Guiding Them, and Helping Them Understand.”
Through these training sessions, Save the Children in Mongolia and its government partners are working to strengthen the capacity of educators and facilitators to promote positive parenting practices and support the creation of safe, nurturing, and violence-free environments for children and families throughout Mongolia.
