COUNTRY MANAGER AND REPRESENTATIVE OF SAVE THE CHILDREN JAPAN

Bayan-Altai Luvsandorj has been working as the Country Manager and Representative of Save the Children Japan in Mongolia since 2019. He is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the organization’s activities in Mongolia, and managing and leading the local team. Other key areas of his responsibilities include development and implementation of projects in the areas of child protection, education, poverty, business development, and child rights governance. An important part of his work is to build and strengthen partnerships with government agencies, international organizations, NGOs and the private sector.

Bayan-Altai started his career working as a Program Officer at Mercy Corps, and later he served there as the Director of Gobi Initiative, a large economic development program funded by the USAID.  Later, he run the Business Advisory Services Program at European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, targeting SMEs in Mongolia. In addition, he has held senior management positions in private companies such as Oyu Tolgoi and Max Group, where he led and implemented many successful business projects. He provided advisory services and organized training for leading national and international companies on organizational strategy, human resource management and leadership development.

Bayan-Altai graduated from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology with a degree in information technology and management and holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Leeds, UK. He also studied economic development at Michigan State University in the United States.

He enjoys playing basketball and running. Also, he likes to do translation in his free time. He translated Bottom Billion, an economic development book, from English to Mongolian. Written by Paul Collier, an Oxford University Professor, the book explains the reasons why impoverished countries fail to progress despite international aid and support.
