Save the Children is implementing the project on “Strengthening the child protection system in Mongolia” in collaboration with the Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection (MPD&SP) and the National Authority for Children.  The project was funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Within the child protection system, the project will focus on improving the government systems and services on child protection at the lowest administrative level – khoroos and soums. 

Project objectivity:
To strengthen and sustain the child protection system in Mongolia so that children below 18 years of age realize their right to be protected from violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation.

Achievements in 2016

  • Developed and distributed a “Manual for members of MDT Members”
  • Developed training program completed by 30 trainers nationwide
  • Created case management forms on child protection services, approved and adopted by Order A/42 issued by the Authority for Family, Children and Youth Development and disseminated nationwide, now routinely used by social workers and MDT members
  • Created a child protection service model by providing on-the-job training such as joint family risk assessments and case history management
