The Government of Mongolia, the Government of Japan and Save the Children sign a Memorandum of Understanding to implement a project, titled \u201cPromoting Inclusive Education Focusing on Every Last Child in Mongolia\u201d at the premises of the Embassy of Japan in Ulaanbaatar on March 09, 2018.<\/p>\n

The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and will last for three years, from March 2018 to March 2021 in Bayanzurkh, Chingeltei, Songinokhairkhan disctricts of Ulaanbaatar city as well as in Khovd and Uvurkhangai aimags.<\/p>\n

The project has fourfold objectives:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. To strengthen Inclusive Education system at regular schools;<\/li>\n
  2. To strengthen the structure and capacity of lifelong learning centers and reach out to out-of-school children;<\/li>\n
  3. To enhance awareness and engagements of parents\/caretakers and community members in addressing inclusive education<\/li>\n
  4. To institutionalize and sustain successful models of inclusive education through policy advocacy and strengthen inclusive education coordination mechanism.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    Six special schools exist in Ulaanbaatar and the Government of Mongolia does not plan to add another special school, because it adopts a system in which children with disabilities learn in regular schools.<\/p>\n

    \u201cSave the Children believes that this project will add value and support the Mongolian Government\u2019s policy to promote inclusive education\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    \"\"<\/p>\n

    \u201cThere is a lack of appropriate support for children with special needs in the regular schools and the system for implementing inclusive education is not fully prepared in terms of teaching methodology and evaluation system. The project expects to tackle this concern. However, inclusive education is not limited to children with disabilities. This also includes children who are dropped out of school, or had never attended school due to various reasons\u201d.
    \n\u201cPolicy advocacy is also one of the key components of the project that is crucial in sustaining positive changes and strengthen coordination efforts nationwide\u201d says Mr.Mitsuaki Toyoda, the Country director of Save the Children in Mongolia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
