{"id":22247,"date":"2025-11-28T16:31:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T08:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/?p=22247"},"modified":"2025-12-11T16:37:40","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T08:37:40","slug":"the-results-of-the-establishing-school-based-child-protection-mechanism-in-mongolia-project-were-presented","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/?p=22247&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"The results of the \u2018Establishing School-Based Child Protection Mechanism in Mongolia\u2019 project were presented"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With funding from Save the Children Hong Kong, Save the Children in Mongolia implemented the \u2018Establishing School-Based Child Protection Mechanism in Mongolia\u2019 project from 2023 to 2025 in 14 schools across Khan-Uul, Bayangol, Chingeltei, Sukhbaatar, and Bayanzurkh districts of Ulaanbaatar, as well as in Govi-Altai and Khovd provinces.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The \u00a0project engaged 14 \u00a0multi disciplinary teams, school staff, parents and caregivers, students, to develop school-based child protection mechanisms \u00a0that established a collaborative model for effective prevention, early identification, and response to child protection concerns.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project closing event was held in Ulaanbaatar on 28 November 2025 and brought together representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, General Authority for Child and Family Development Protection, the Education Departments of Ulaanbaatar, Khovd, and Govi-Altai provinces, target schools, multi-disciplinary teams, students, and parent\u2019s council members.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22158 \" src=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1197-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"610\" height=\"407\" srcset=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1197-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1197-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1197-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1197.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/> \u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22172 \" src=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1236.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1236.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1236-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1236-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1236-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Opening the event, Country Manager and Representative of Save the Children in Mongolia, L.Bayan-Altai said, \u201c<em>Today, we are discussing the project results and how we can ensure its sustainability moving forward. Together, we have successfully implemented this project. Ts.Munkhzul, Head of the Family Policy Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection; and T.Nyam-Ochir, Head of General Authority for Education, delivered presentations on the project \u00a0outcomes .<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22162 \" src=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1333.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1333.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1333-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1333-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1333-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/> \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22163 \" src=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1481.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"659\" height=\"389\" srcset=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1481.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1481-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1481-1024x605.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1481-768x454.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 659px) 100vw, 659px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T.Nyam-Ochir, emphasized: \u201c<em>I would like to express my appreciation to all partners who worked together to implement this project and to introduce new approaches and methods to the education sector.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Save the Children submitted policy recommendations to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection on scaling up the project nationwide.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-22167 \" src=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1257-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1351\" height=\"610\" srcset=\"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1257-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1257-1-300x136.jpg 300w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1257-1-1024x463.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/IMG_1257-1-768x347.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1351px) 100vw, 1351px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Results:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The project reached 14 general education schools and 14 multidisciplinary teams in Ulaanbaatar, Khovd, and Govi-Altai provinces, benefiting 42,369 adults and 49,114 children.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to monitoring, evaluation data, 79.4% of parent council members reported that there are opportunities to improve child protection through strengthened collaboration with schools.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Collaboration between multi-disciplinary teams and schools in delivering child protection services increased by 3.5%.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A total of 18,954 parents and caregivers participated in the \u2018Positive Parenting\u2019 training, which improved family relationships as the foundation of child protection. After the training, 60% of participants reported positive changes in their attitudes toward child discipline.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Baseline data showed that 68.7% of teachers used physical or emotional punishment with students. This decreased to 21.3% in the endline survey. Additionally, 72% of students reported that they no longer fear their teachers and feel comfortable communicating with them, indicating the development of a more child-friendly school environment.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Children became more capable of recognizing child rights violations and understanding when, where, and to whom they should report in case of violence against children. According to the survey, 72.05% of children said they would report violations to their parents, caregivers, school child protection institutions, teachers, or the school child protection team.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">To strengthen school-based child protection mechanisms, the project developed and published 16 manuals and materials, \u00a0with accompanying trainings. More than 20,000 teachers, school staff, parents, children, and specialists participated in these trainings.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Parents showed improved ability to support their children\u2019s education, gained greater understanding and respect for teachers\u2019 work, and established more open and communicative relationships. As a result, 55.8% of children reported that they can now express their thoughts and feelings freely to their parents.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">A total of 1,850 students participated in the \u2018I Support My Friends\u2019 peer support training programme, which teaches adolescents how to care for themselves and their peers and supports their psychological and mental well-being.
