{"id":23454,"date":"2026-07-06T10:28:44","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T02:28:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/?p=23454"},"modified":"2026-07-07T12:42:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T04:42:18","slug":"improving-access-of-emergency-care-for-disadvantaged-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/savethechildren.mn\/?p=23454&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"Emergency Care Project Launched to Improve Access for Disadvantaged Communities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The &#8220;Reaching Emergency Care to Disadvantaged Communities&#8221; (REDY) project was officially launched on 3 July 2026 at the Bat-Ulzii Soum Health Center in Uvurkhangai Province, with representatives from Seoul, Ulaanbaatar, and Arvaikheer participating virtually.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Funded by Save the Children Korea, the one-year project aims to strengthen emergency medical services at the Bat-Ulzii Soum Health Center in Uvurkhangai Province.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Under the project, the health center will receive a fully equipped, national standard-compliant ambulance designed for local terrain conditions, together with emergency stabilization equipment and essential medical devices for maternal and child emergency care. The project will also cover vehicle maintenance and fuel costs to ensure the ambulance remains fully operational and available for emergency response throughout the project period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Opening remarks were delivered by Mr. M. Batzorig, Deputy Governor of Uvurkhangai Province; Ms. Myounghwa Hwang, Global Program Director, Save the Children Korea; Ms. Jihee Choi, Head of the Fundraising and Marketing Division, Save the Children Korea; Mr. L. Bayan-Altai, Country Manager and Representative, Save the Children in Mongolia; and Mr. J. Batzorig,<\/strong> Deputy Governor of Uvurkhangai Province, remarked, &#8220;The local authorities have worked closely with Save the Children Mongolia to successfully implement a wide range of development initiatives since 2013. We are pleased to welcome this timely project, which directly responds to the needs of our community. As Bat-Ulzii is one of Mongolia&#8217;s major tourism destinations, the increasing number of visitors has led to greater demand for emergency medical services due to accidents and injuries. Strengthening our emergency response capacity is therefore more important than ever. The provincial government is fully committed to supporting the successful implementation of this project.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ms. Myounghwa Hwan<\/strong>g, Global Program Director, Save the Children Korea, noted, &#8220;It is a great honor to join you today as we launch this meaningful initiative to strengthen emergency medical services in Mongolia through the REDC project. Save the Children Korea and Save the Children Mongolia have built a strong and trusted partnership over many years. This project represents another important milestone in our continued collaboration to improve the wellbeing of children and communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mr. L. Bayan-Altai,<\/strong> Country Manager and Representative, Save the Children in Mongolia, emphasized, &#8220;I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Save the Children Korea for its investment in the wellbeing of Mongolian children and families through this project. This initiative goes far beyond providing a new ambulance. It represents a comprehensive effort to strengthen the local emergency care system by improving the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers, enhancing the referral system, and raising community awareness of emergency care and available health services.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Ms. Jihee Choi,<\/strong> Head of the Fundraising and Marketing Division, Save the Children Korea, added, &#8220;I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the local authorities, our partners, and the Save the Children Mongolia team for making this project possible. Thank you for your collaboration and continued trust. I believe this project will create meaningful change and enable us to share inspiring stories of impact with our supporters.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mr. J. Ganchuluun<\/strong>, Acting Director of the Bat-Ulzii Soum Health Center, said, &#8220;We are delighted to launch the first project dedicated to improving access to emergency care in Bat-Ulzii Soum. This valuable support will significantly strengthen our health services and enable us to provide faster, safer, and more accessible emergency care for our community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The launch event was attended by doctors and healthcare workers from the Bat-Ulzii Soum Health Center, officials from the Soum Governor&#8217;s Office, the school director, representatives of the Uvurkhangai Provincial Health Department and the Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center, as well as staff from Save the Children Korea and Save the Children Mongolia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During the event, Mr. Yo. Nyamdavaa, Manager of the Child Poverty Programme at Save the Children Mongolia, presented an overview of the &#8220;Reaching Emergency Care to Disadvantaged Communities&#8221; project. Ms. Ch. Munguntuya, Project Officer from the Child Protection Programme, introduced Save the Children&#8217;s Child Safeguarding Policy to participants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Funded through public contributions from the Republic of Korea, the project is expected to directly benefit 2,764 residents of Bat-Ulzii Soum and indirectly benefit an additional 4,590 people by improving access to timely, quality emergency medical services.
