Save the Children in Mongolia has been implementing the \u201cSAFE TO LEARN: Building inclusive and resilient schools in Mongolia\u201d project in partnership with five target schools and five khoroos in the Chingeltei, Bayangol, and Bayanzurkh districts of Ulaanbaatar from 2026 to 2028, with funding from a grant provided by Save the Children Hong Kong.<\/p>\n

The project focuses on early identification of child rights violations, violence against children, and situations posing child protection risks; ensuring the timely and quality delivery of necessary child protection services; and strengthening intersectoral collaboration.<\/p>\n

As part of the project, quarterly case discussion sessions are being organized with the participation of members of the khoroo multidisciplinary teams, school social workers, and school psychologists from Schools No. 39 and 61, and Khoroos No. 10 and 21 in Chingeltei district; Erdemiin Undraa Comprehensive School, and Khoroo No. 32 in Bayangol District; and Schools No. 53 and 79 and Khoroos No. 16 and 17 in Bayanzurkh District.<\/p>\n

During the case discussions, actual cases identified in school settings are reviewed, and appropriate follow-up measures and service plans are developed based on the individual circumstances and needs of each child. These discussions provide an opportunity to improve child protection case management services, ensure timely assistance and support, strengthen coordination among relevant organizations, and facilitate the exchange of professional experience and expertise.<\/p>\n

Specialists from the Education Departments and child, family development and protection organizations of the target districts also participate in the discussions, providing professional and methodological guidance and support in addressing complex cases. By discussing and addressing each case through a multi-stakeholder approach, the project aims to improve the quality, timeliness, and coordination of child protection services.<\/p>\n

The regular organization of case discussions is contributing to improved collaboration among schools, khoroos, multidisciplinary teams, and relevant organizations. It is also helping to strengthen school-level mechanisms for protecting children\u2019s rights and safety, identifying children at risk at an early stage, and referring them to the services they need.<\/p>\n

In addition to Ulaanbaatar, the project is being implemented in four schools and four multidisciplinary teams in Gobi-Altai Province, four schools and four multidisciplinary teams in Khovd Province, and five schools and five multidisciplinary teams in Bayan-Olgii Province. Case discussions are also being organized in these target areas to improve the quality and accessibility of child protection services and strengthen collaboration among professional organizations and multidisciplinary teams.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBuilding inclusive and resilient schools in Mongolia\u201d project aims to ensure that every child has the opportunity to learn and develop in a safe environment where their rights are respected and their development is supported, while also strengthening child protection systems at the school level.
